Fun Run Spooktacular safely brings Eberwhite community together
Updated: Nov 22, 2020
Like everything else, the Fun Run had to look different this year. But we were undeterred and figured out a way to continue the tradition for the 11th year, while keeping things safe for our community. Participants had two weeks to run their laps, either on their own or at a track the PTO set up at Virginia Park.
Then, students and their families were invited to participate in the Fun Run Spooktacular Final Lap for a photo finish in their costumes or spirit wear at Virginia Park on the morning of Halloween. Families signed up for time slots in half hour increments, and everyone did an amazing job wearing masks and keeping their distance. Mr. Harris and a number of teachers came to cheer on the kiddos, and we could really feel the community spirit. A good time was had by all.
This year, 76 Eberwhite students ran laps during Fun Run Spooktacular! 38 families enjoyed The Final Lap in 30-minute socially distanced shifts, joined by Eberwhite teachers and staff. And we raised about $5,800 to support PTO programs like teacher stipends, mini-grants, curriculum enrichment, teacher appreciation, and more.
Thank you to all our families and to Eberwhite teachers and staff!
Congratulations to Ms. Lindsay and Mr. Shanteau, both of whom won Fun Run prizes for their classes raising the most funds and having the most participants at Fun Run, respectively. Each will get coffee and a pastry delivered to them at home and a Target gift card! Thank you to all who participated in this year's Fun Run Spooktacular!
