Wood Chip Day 2022

October 19th, 2022

Please join the Eberwhite Woods Community in one of our favorite traditions: Wood Chip Day! With your help on Wednesday October 19th we will be spreading wood chips on the trails near school.

Families of Eberwhite Elementary School and community will wood chip one-third of the major trails in Eberwhite Woods! This is an impressive service project that not only protects the 29-acre parcel of native forest that surrounds our school but also builds and strengthens our school community. Since we didn't wood chip last year and the woods has had a lot of use this year, we really need to work on the trails.

This year we will not be organizing through classroom teachers; instead we will be signing up using this signup genius with families. This is a VERY large undertaking with about 50 yards of mulch to spread. We are asking families to sign up for 30 minutes slots - only 5 families at a time so that we can socially distance during this outdoor event. STAY TUNED FOR VOLUNTEER SIGN-UP.

Families will need to bring their own equipment: sleds, wheelbarrows, and shovels (if possible).

Please sign up for any block of time that works for you - and definitely feel free to sign up for more than one slot! If you would prefer to volunteer for part of a time block or if you prefer to not use the SignUp Genius website to sign up, please contact us at eberwhite.pto@gmail.com.

This year we will be working on the trails leading from Eberwhite. There will be two piles of wood chips: one near the north entrance to the woods and one near the swing sets near the other entrance to the woods near school. It will be a one way circle to drop wood chips and return to school for another load!

Come out and enjoy the Fall weather! Thanks for supporting this unique and enjoyable experience at Eberwhite Elementary School!
